We are back with another #SoulBackPodcast episode. This week we interview Salaam Remi. the legendary producer has worked with everyone in the game from Nas, Amy Winehouse and Miguel. He also produced one of our favorite songs last year which is Tamia's "Leave It Smokin'". We pick his brain on his approach to R&B as well as discuss his chemistry with some of his collaborators. We also ask him about what it's like making R&B music in today's era. On our end we talk about new music from Tank, BJ the Chicago Kid and The Bonfyre. We also touch on the new direction that Tank has been going in with his music over the last few years and debate whether Urban AC radio is still needed for an R&B artist. We are back on the #SoulBackPodcast despite some serious technical difficulties. Our mics had issues which would explain the sound quality of our podcast but it's all good because we still have some great content. Our boy Dan Bamber joins us as a special guest co-host as Edd is off this week. This somehow coincidentally falls on the same week that we have Elle Varner in the building. In this interview with Elle, we talk to her about her hiatus, her amazing debut album "Perfectly Imperfect" as well as her new album "Ellevation". Elle Varner talks to us about how happy she is currently as an independent artist and the freedom she feels she has when she's recording her music. On our end we talk to Dan about why he thinks T-Pain is great despite our criticisms and we also debate if Ciara is a legend.

On this week we are joined by one of the greatest R&B songwriters of our time Johnta Austin. The man is responsible for hits such as "Be Without You" by Mary J. Blige, "We Belong Together" by Mariah Carey and "Sweet Lady" by Tyrese. We talk to the prolific singer/songwriter about his new single "Love Angel" along with his upcoming album "Love, Sex & Religion" which is considered R&B's version of the "Detox" album as it has been on hold for over a decade now. We also talk to Johnta about the state of R&B and also highlight some of the best songwriters in the game including Stevie Wonder, R. Kelly and Babyface. We also talk about Elle Varner's upcoming EP and the disappointing sales from Daniel Caesar.
